Position Summary:
The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Plan for the plant, ensuring it meets or exceeds customer expectations. This role involves updating quality manuals and procedures, overseeing compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Core Responsibilities:
Quality System Management:
- Develop and manage the plant’s Quality Plan, keeping quality and procedure manuals up to date.
- Ensure the quality system aligns with or surpasses customer standards and requirements.
Training and Compliance:
- Train plant employees on quality requirements specific to their roles.
- Oversee training and development programs for quality technicians, ensuring competency.
- Lead internal audits, implement corrective actions, and monitor compliance regularly.
Inspection and Testing Oversight:
- Manage the inspection system, covering incoming material approval, lab testing, in-process inspections, gage control, and machine capability.
- Ensure all corrective actions are executed to maintain compliance with the Quality Plan.
Customer and Supplier Relations:
- Address and resolve internal and external customer complaints promptly, collaborating with customers, suppliers, and relevant personnel.
- Maintain accurate quality files for customers and parts, ensuring adherence to all requirements.
Continuous Improvement and Leadership:
- Actively participate in improvement initiatives (APQP, PBL, SQAC, Six Sigma, Corporate Quality Council, etc.).
- Promote a strong floor presence through Gemba Walks, and support initiatives like 5S + Safety.
- Uphold and support the mission, vision, Code of Conduct, and Process-Based Leadership guidelines.
Travel and Communication:
- Travel as necessary to support customers.
- Tailor presentations to diverse audiences, demonstrating strong communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 7-10 years in a manufacturing environment, with automotive supply experience preferred.
- Leadership: Prior experience in quality management is required.
- Certifications: Certified Quality Engineer/Manager is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of ISO9000/TS16949 system requirements.
- Strong command of problem-solving and Six Sigma tools.
